New Setting for Olo Integration: Improved Handling of OloID Changes

DATE:
AUTHOR: r

We’ve received reports from several customers using the Olo integration regarding menu items, modifiers, and modifier groups being unexpectedly archived and recreated as new items with different IDs in Olo.

Upon consulting with Olo, they shared that this occurs when items are deleted and rebuilt or duplicated in Olo. In these cases, Olo assigns a new, unique internal ID, even if the item appears unchanged. Additionally, at the store menu level, disabling and re-enabling an item, modifier group, or choice also results in a new Olo ID being generated.

To address this, we’ve introduced a new setting in the Olo integration called Use Olo ID Fallback.

How It Works:

When enabled, if Bite is unable to match an item using the Olo ID, the system will attempt the following fallback logic:

  1. Match by POS ID

  2. If that fails, match by POS Name

Important Consideration:

While POS ID is typically a reliable fallback, POS Name matching may lead to false positives—for example, if two different items have similar names, they could be incorrectly matched or swapped.

If you choose to enable this setting, we recommend reviewing any changes carefully, especially after menu updates in Olo.
