[Bite Admin Portal] New org-level & site-level settings

AUTHOR: The Bite team

This week, Bite will be releasing new org-level and site-level settings in the Bite Admin Portal. No existing channel-level settings will be changed as a result of this deployment, and there is no action required from any existing Bite customers.

With this new improvement, org-level settings will override the values at site-level, and site-level settings will override the values at channel-level only if the existing values match between the parent and the child.

New Configuration v2

Now, under Configuration v2, there will be new Bite Settings, Common Settings, Flash Settings, Kiosk Settings, Menu Appearance Settings, Recommendation Settings tabs for org, site, and channel-levels. All settings than can be controlled at the org and site-level have been migrated to these new tabs.

You might think “how will I know if a setting will be under Configuration or Configuration v2?” This can be answered by asking “does this setting depend on other integrations?” If the answer is YES, then it will still remain under Configuration. If the answer is NO, it will be under Configuration v2. See example below:

“Are dining options under Configuration or Configuration v2?”

  • “Does this setting depend on other integrations?”

  • “YES, dining options are tied to handoff modes in the POS integration”

  • Setting is under Configuration

“Is quick checkout under Configuration or Configuration v2?”

  • “Does this setting depend on other integrations?”

  • “NO, this is a Bite-implemented feature that does not depend on POS, loyalty, or other integrations”

  • Setting is under Configuration v2

A tool to minimize configuration errors…

Next to each configuration v2 setting, you will see an = or ≠ icon.

At the site and location-level:

  • = means that the site or location-level setting has the same value as its parent

  • ≠ means that the site or location-level setting has a different value than its parent

At the org-level, clicking on the icons at the org and site-level will show a modal of all sites and locations that currently have the same value as the org-level. This will display a list of all sites and locations that will be impacted if the setting is changed at the org-level.
