July + August 2026 Release Recap
A double edition covering July and August: two Transact campus card programs, end-to-end credit card surcharge handling, searchable settings and new reports in Bite Admin, finer-grained permissions, and a long run of kiosk and localization work. Here's the recap.
Guest Experience
Order Lead Times — Lead-time rules can be set at the item level, not just by category. The kiosk uses the longest applicable prep time in the cart as the order's lead time, prints the resulting ready time on the receipt, and can take item-level prep times from Toast.
Scan-and-Go Refinements — Scan notifications are configurable now, and scan items can be marked as requiring manager approval.
Quantity on Quick-Add — Guests using configured quick-add menus can choose an item quantity before adding it to the cart.
Multiples of the Same Modifier — The Large Image and Carousel modifier layouts now how quantity settings for min and max additions.
Removing the Last Item — Decrementing a cart item from quantity one now enters the confirmation flow instead of doing nothing.
Fewer Unavailable Items Offered — When an order validation identifies an item as unavailable, Bite can persist that 86 so later sessions stop offering it.
Loyalty Sign-Up — Instant Enroll can collect an email address for Punchh and Punchh-Olo, and a guest's SMS subscription choice is forwarded to Punchh account creation.
Loyalty Display — Separate settings can suppress reward point counts and reward dollar values on the kiosk reward view.
Payments
Transact Campus Cards — Bite supports Transact TSE and IDX for eligible campus dining deployments, alongside existing CBORD support. Supported capabilities include campus-card purchases, account selection, stored value and meal plan tenders, and stored-value refunds.
Credit Card Surcharging — End-to-end handling for terminal-applied credit card surcharges, for supported Canadian Eigen C6 deployments. The terminal reports the surcharge, Bite adds it to the order as a payment service charge, and Simphony can receive the same amount as an open service charge.
Verifone P630 Support — Added Verifone P630 terminal support for Verifone SCA.
FreedomPay GBP Transactions — Added the newer FreedomPay Android terminal software and GBP transaction support.
Manual Stored-Value Entry — A default-off setting controls manual card-number entry for supported campus-card and FreedomPay stored-value flows.
Operator Tools
Settings Search — A new Settings Search entry in Bite Admin makes it easier to find configuration options.
Reporting — Many one-time reports can now be downloaded directly from Bite Admin instead of through email. Admin also includes the Industry Benchmark Report and an Upsell % Report showing upsell contribution to sales and orders by business day and location. Summary Reports can include third-party orders, and gained an average guest-satisfaction result with its response count.
Permissions — New permission options let teams grant limited system-log access ("View System Logs (Limited)"), manage Open Hours separately ("Manage Open Hours"), and use limited integration controls ("Manage Integrations (Limited)"). Store managers can also see refunded orders in Order Search.
Day Part Visibility — Menu sections and items assigned to a day part display a visual tag, and each day part shows the menus, sections, and items that use it.
Hide Items Across Channels — An item can be hidden in one action across channels that share the same POS integration.
Receipt Survey Formatting — Receipt survey header and footer text support configurable formatting. Requires a configured survey integration.
Fallback Cover — Menu covers can now carry a fallback image. If a cover's dynamic blocks (promos, dining options) resolve as empty, Bite will replace the cover with the selected fallback.
Menu Display Controls — Operators can configure the item-level nutrition summary independently from the broader nutrition display, and POS-synced badges now show clearer disabled treatment in item details.
Under the Hood
POS Integrations — Improved Simphony authentication refresh and weighted-item handling; Brink warning clarity and end-of-day order timing; and support for POS-applied discounts from Toast and Brink.
Devices — Added Zebra ET401 built-in scanner support for Android Linebuster devices.
Payment reliability — Transact refund reliability and swipe-routing fixes, FreedomPay disconnect recovery, and terminal-recovery improvements.
UI Fixes — Combo flows no longer scroll past required choices and collapsed nested modifier groups reopen correctly.
